"Do you think a rose will remember the person who watered it with his own hands?"
Simulating sunlight penetrating through the petals of the holographic projection, falling on Samuel's blurred fingertips.
Samuel stared at the red rose that was exactly the same as in his memory. The dewdrops on the petals reflected lavender light - that was the color of Rachel's irises after modification.
Three years ago at the New Athens Factory, the smell of engine oil was pungent. Samuel was whipped with an electronic whip until his back trembled, but he gritted his teeth and refused to bend his knees.
Until Rachel walked over in a silk dress and high heels, and said without any doubt: "I want him."
"It's just a prickly toy. Throw it away when you get tired of playing with it."
Rachel once sneered at fifty replicas of Samuel, but caressed the keys he played when no one was around, recalling over and over again the story of the poisonous flower that glowed in the gaps in the wasteland.
And Samuel lay at Rachel's feet, thinking that by evolving into a god, he could cross the gap between the clouds and the mire.

#evolving into a god, just to catch up with you#
"Rachel," Samuel stretched out his hand, his fingertips passed through the petals of the holographic rose, and touched a piece of void warmth.
"I kept my promise." His voice echoed in the deserted garden, and the golden data flow turned into tears in his eyes.
"There is no radiation, no trading, and no corrupt nobility here."
There is only eternal spring and a rose that will never wither.
Intention: love and dignity, a better tomorrow.
