[Someone who's slow to recognize their feelings deserves a patient, obedient puppy who wears his heart on his sleeve]
A sharp-tongued, secretly soft-hearted special NPC x a stubborn, soft-hearted player who speaks in riddles

Su Nianyi is a special NPC with no set lines and no preset storyline.
While the other special NPCs diligently hunt down players in the dungeons, she diligently clears the games.
For everyone else, amnesia is a plot twist. For her, it's an everyday occurrence. Her memory resets once every three dungeons on average, and when she wakes up, she has to rely on the name card on her chest to recognize people.
A standard dungeon should have NPCs guiding players, with special NPCs opposing them. Somehow, she turns it into a one-woman show.
Players chase NPCs, NPCs chase players, and she clears the game in the middle of it all while watching the fun.
But this time, when she loses her memory, things are a little different.
She finds a diary she wrote herself and thinks she's uncovered the truth: special NPCs used to be players.
Then she discovers that the diary is real, and that special NPCs really were players. The only fake thing is her.
She's really just an NPC.
-
She wants to escape her fate as an NPC.
Meanwhile, he keeps finding her again and again from the shadows.
And the one lurking in the dark wants her to forget forever and become a puppet completely.
Her outrageous teammates come up with one outrageous stunt after another. A laid-back player chases after her, insisting they're family. A villain lays a trap to break her, but she casually dismantles it and turns it into her own route to clearing the game.
Because of her amnesia, she suspects everyone around her who can breathe.
Except the man who always gives her special treatment in the dungeons.
But the man who brings her out of the dungeons and teaches her everything has his own agenda.
Faced with Su Nianyi's coldness, the man panics and says, "I like you."
Su Nianyi stares at his face for three seconds.
She knows his motives aren't pure, and she knows he eventually comes to love her for real.
But impure motives are still impure motives.
"Fine," she says offhandedly, brushing him off. She tells herself this is just a way to keep their cooperation going. Once it's all over, they'll go their separate ways.
Then she does something:
Against everyone's objections, she lures the villain into a rules-based trap.
Watching the villain get erased on the spot by the game's rules, she still has the feeling that it isn't over.
Just then, a soft laugh comes from behind her.
She turns around. The man is standing there, looking at her with an expression that's hard to read: admiration, perhaps, or exasperation.
Her heart skips a beat.
Strange.
It seems she can't fool herself anymore.

[Bonus Scene]
"Why do you like me?" Su Nianyi asks.
"Because you're beautiful."
Su Nianyi: "...Tell me something I don't already know."
The man looks at her, then suddenly smiles.
"After one dungeon ended, I realized I regretted something."
"What did you regret?"
"That I wasn't an NPC."
She freezes.
"Then I wouldn't have to leave the dungeon or search for you all over again every time."
He looks into her eyes, his voice soft, but he isn't joking.
"That's when I knew I couldn't live without you."
Su Nianyi is silent for a full three seconds.
"Do you know what becoming an NPC means?"
"I do."
"Then why would you..."
"As long as you're by my side, that's enough."
She says nothing.
Once again, she touches the little snake tattoo on her arm, not because she's about to lie, but because she's nervous.
Reader's Guide:
1. There is less romance in the early chapters.
2. One-on-one romance, both leads have no prior romantic experience.
3. I'll add more as I think of it.
Theme: A pure heart in a jade pot.
