Xiao Shui is a beta.
In fact, she's a rather timid beta.
She has no grand ambitions in life. Like all betas, she wants nothing more than a steady job and a happy family.
By chance, she gets a ticket to Central Star, bringing her dreams within reach.
And she really does get everything she wanted. In just a week, she'll be named the factory's 47th Rising Star and receive a bonus of one thousand starcoins! Her life is finally full of hope.
But lately, things seem strange. The new neighbor next door keeps running into her in the hallway. The two brothers downstairs keep knocking on her door for all sorts of reasons. The owner of the bar where she used to work offers her a generous salary to come back.
Strangest of all, her brother, who's just recovered from a serious illness, keeps secretly sniffing the clothes she's taken off. He's becoming increasingly good at faking a smile, and increasingly quiet.
Before she can figure out what's behind all this strange behavior,
she is imprisoned...
