Since birth, Shanks has always dreamed of someone who looks exactly like him. As he grows older, the person in his dreams grows up alongside him.
At first, he thinks he has developed a split personality, and is rather surprised that his alter ego is so aloof. Later, he learns from that person that they were twin brothers separated by death shortly after birth.
What... So this is telepathy between twins?!
Shanks (solemnly): Don't worry. I'll live well in another world, carrying on for both of us
So, hoping to cheer up his dead older brother, who seems a little depressed, Shanks keeps telling him all about the fun things in his life.
Shamrock is the only son of the Figarland family, and they have high hopes for him.
He has a secret buried deep in his heart: whenever he dreams, he sees someone who looks just like him but has a completely different personality.
At first, he thinks his father's training has been too harsh and the pressure has finally made him develop a split personality.
Later, he realizes that the songs his second personality sings with a huge grin, and all the tales of life at sea he tells him, are things he has never heard of.
One day, he learns from his father that he was supposed to have had a twin brother, but the baby died shortly after birth.
From that day on, Shamrock stops thinking about getting rid of the phantom in his head.
Later, Shamrock becomes interested in the world below.
He wants to see the scenery his brother has told him about, but his furious father confines him to his room.
With his brother egging him on, though, he sneaks out.
Later still, his brother tells him that the captain he regarded as a father has died.
People say dreams are projections of the subconscious. Shamrock thinks gravely: Could it be that, deep down, he actually wants to kill his father?
Later still, he runs into a man in Mary Geoise who looks exactly like his brother.
"The first twenty-four years I wasted in the world below were the stain on my entire life, "
The cold, arrogant red-haired man has barely finished speaking when he locks eyes with Shamrock, who has just returned from a trip to the world below.
Shanks: ?!
Shamrock: ...?
Beckman (takes a drag) (closes his eyes): So... that's why you hauled the leader of the God's Knights onto a pirate ship?
P.S. This idea came to me after I saw the new information about the red-haired twins. I died laughing at the bit where Shanks pretends to be a disgruntled youth in the Holy Land and his brother calmly comforts him... I never really cared much about Shanks, but seeing you two brothers together suddenly makes me want to write about you...
I probably won't start this story anytime soon. I'll see how I feel about it after I finish writing the Ace story and see what new information Oda releases. If I'm still interested then, or if lots of people want to read this premise, I'll start it...
