This story, told from multiple points of view, follows two lifetimes beginning with the “White Swan.”
Fifteen-year-old Jin Chunya is an ordinary girl whose parents divorce because of their troubled relationship. After the divorce, her ambitious mother, Jin Feisuo, is determined to train her daughter to become the best dancer and fulfill her own dream of becoming a star dancer through her. To make sure her daughter succeeds in making her debut, she tells fifteen-year-old Jin Chunya that if she becomes a dance star, her loving father will come back for her. Jin Chunya falls for her mother’s lie and begins eight years of emotional torment.
After becoming a successful dance star, Jin Chunya realizes she was deceived. But she still doesn’t blame her mother. She often makes time to call her father, believing her life will continue under her mother’s strict supervision. Then her supposed “savior,” Ovik, appears. With him, Jin Chunya experiences love and happiness she has never known before. She is certain they can keep loving each other freely and happily forever, and even hopes Ovik can free her from her mother Jin Feisuo’s emotional control. At last, unable to bear her mother’s restrictions any longer, Jin Chunya decides to run away with Ovik. But reality delivers a crushing blow: Ovik betrays her. Heartbroken, she returns to her home. Her mother says nothing about her “escape” and, as usual, comes home on Christmas Eve. Still holding on to hope, Jin Chunya calls her father, only to receive a disappointing answer.
Everything she treasured in this world has left her. She has nothing left. God has not favored her, and the pearl necklace named Love scatters into a pile of worthless beads.
A light rain falls the morning after Christmas Eve. Whose tears are they?
“Jin Chunya, you’re too selfish. Death doesn’t tell anyone.”
“If I could do it all over again, I’d want to save you, to catch hold of your vanished soul.”
Dear Mo Zhenzhu,
This time, God has favored you. You meet the White Swan once more.
What will you do?
