Makari Chizuru had no parents and had lived in a rural orphanage for as long as he could remember. Aside from possessing a strange supernatural ability, there was nothing special about him. He was obedient and never rebellious, always ready to help his companions when they were in trouble, so the director often praised him and everyone thought highly of him.

But years of good behavior and kindness brought him no reward. His companions and the director both betrayed him, and some hypocritical visitors with ulterior motives wanted to take him away from the orphanage. Determined not to be caught, Makari Chizuru fled.

After a long journey, Makari Chizuru stopped in Yokohama, where he happened to witness a once-in-a-century explosion. He met Chuuya, who was also homeless and possessed a supernatural ability. His kind heart would not let him turn Chuuya away, so he reached out to help him, and the two became family.

To support themselves, Makari Chizuru took Chuuya around Yokohama to find work. But the city's chaos was beyond anything they could have imagined: thugs roamed everywhere, and Mafia members seemed to spawn on every corner.

Some Boss: "How could that be~ My subordinates are always so well-behaved~*^_^*"

Makari Chizuru: "What's with this French amnesiac?"

Chuuya: "Why does the Flags group come to eat at our shop every day? Doesn't your Mafia provide meals?"

The Detective Agency wasn't as dangerous, but it was just as troublesome.

Some Detective: "Dessert! Dessert! The great detective wants matcha almond tofu!"

Chuuya: "No! We're not selling any today!"

Some Detective: "Heh heh! Chuuya, the great detective has a very keen nose!"

The Agency president, who spoiled his children far too much, lowered his head and drank his tea without a word.

Their chaotic days were painful but happy. Yet the danger drew ever closer. The mystery of Chuuya's origins, the truth behind Makari Chizuru's escape, everything was slowly closing in on them, forcing the two to face an unknown enemy.
