A brave, resilient reed-like girl x a spirited young general
A Lian makes her living moving corpses.
She got lost as a child, and now she manages to scrape by with this "trade."
Amid a vast snowfall, in the middle of a desolate wilderness, she never expected to dig up a boy.
The boy loved to smile, and he looked beautiful when he did. Sometimes his smile bewitched her, but he was also so sharp-tongued that she often wanted to hit him.
Later, A Lian found her family again, made many friends, and met all sorts of people. The wind and snow came for her again and again, but each time, the boy lit a little flame for her.
One rainy night, she suddenly thought, being alive is wonderful!
Fate played cruel tricks. Her family was scattered again, friends were hard to reunite with, and her identity became a stain. Everyone avoided her. Countless curses and accusations came crashing down on her. She dragged her body, covered in whip marks, out of the torture chambers of the Dali Temple. It was the most wretched moment of her life.
Yet he was the one who stayed by her side. In the smallest moments, she seemed to glimpse a secret: perhaps the boy had feelings for her. He would use clumsy tricks to cheer her up, argue against the Emperor's pronouncements for her without regard for himself, and go to prison for her, determined to seek justice alongside her...
She regretted bringing him back countless times, yet in countless private moments, she was grateful that he could stay by her side.

From being branded an ill-omened child for no apparent reason to becoming a general on the battlefield, Jiang Shiyue spent the first half of his life walking on eggshells.
Later, when he thought he was about to die, he met a girl. She was rather foolish, but she was also a complete little miser.
"Jiang Xiaoliu, you said it yourself. You're paying."
"I can't live like this anymore."
"No, I've got things to take care of at the east end of the village today."
But when she unexpectedly laid his feelings bare, he wished more than anything that she could be a little slower to catch on...

"What's your name?" the boy asked, his voice soft and clear.
"My name is A Lian."
The boy's eyes were calm. "A Lian? You do look rather lovable, but I'm not the kind of man who treats women gently."
The girl frowned. Why was he so annoying?
Bonus Scene:
In the night, Song Qingyi pressed down on Jiang Shiyue's shoulder and placed a light kiss on his lips. "I'm just that pathetic, Jiang Xiaoliu. Forget me!"
Jiang Shiyue gave a bitter laugh, his back against the cold wall. The chains on his hands clinked in a faint, unpleasant rattle.
"You're abandoning me?"
"Yes."
Jiang Shiyue stiffened. He wanted to speak, but couldn't bring himself to look away from her.
But you once said, when ripples stir, the lone boat never sails alone.
