Yokohama has been home to many witches since ancient times. With its abundant forests and beautiful surroundings, it is an ideal place for witches to practice magic.
In ancient times, witches were used as weapons of war. But after the magical branches of the seven great nations reached a peace agreement, the witches withdrew from the public world and went into hiding among ordinary people. Using the magic mechanism known as the "Hare Escape Rule," they carry out their activities without being observed by the world.
After the great war several years ago, Yokohama became a chaotic place occupied by multiple nations, and witches scattered far and wide...
Kano Kikkuna is an apprentice witch working hard to hone her skills. Her father works for a port company that is always in danger of changing bosses. Her mother is the only wind witch who has been stationed in the Yokohama area long-term. Her familiar is an adorable little cat who transmigrated across worlds with her and was successfully reborn.
As she gradually reveals her talent as a spirit witch and regains her memories, an event foretold in a prophecy comes to pass: her witch mother and driver father, who have only just reunited after a long separation, set off to rescue someone from the dangerous world of her previous life and bring them home... Before leaving, they thoughtfully find her several reliable foster families.
Then, in the year before she is due to come of age as a witch, she receives a commission from the Hirosaki Magic Branch: recover the stolen world heritage known as "Arahabaki."
1. The witch lore in this story is based on the manga Flying Witch, a wonderful fantasy slice-of-life series with one anime season. Highly recommended, though you can enjoy this story even if you haven't read it!
2. A slow-burn coming-of-age slice-of-life story with no romance. The heroine is hopelessly devoted to magic.
Theme: The magic of love crosses time and space
