Matsuda Wants to Be the Protagonist

Short version:

Jinpei Matsuda should have met his end beneath that brilliant display of fireworks, but he was lucky enough to receive a one-in-eight-quadrillion miracle, allowing him to return to the living world and write a new life for himself.

But when he turned around, everyone was mourning him and worrying about him.

Seriously, wouldn't that just make things worse?

So he stopped looking back and turned toward the ending he had chosen for himself.

Spoiler version:

Jinpei Matsuda exploited a bug and used a body-swap trick to pull Kenji Hagiwara out of his death scene.

The price was that he became the one who "had to die."

The world erased his existence, making him a ghost whose existence could not be proven. Only when he became the protagonist of this story was he finally able to return to the living world, in a form even he found unfamiliar.

He is the madman codenamed Liqueur in the organization, someone Gin calls a kindred spirit, and the only experimental subject to carry a miracle.

Osamu Dazai told him, "This is a story with no ending, and the moment you become the protagonist, you are destined to accept one loss after another."

It turned out all the tests were fake, all the salvation was an experiment, and even he was merely an actor wagering his life in an unknown script.

In the end, he borrowed Osamu Dazai's fate and staged a grand death worthy of a protagonist.

Only this time, no one had time to say goodbye.

[Reading guide]

- Matsuda-centric, with a guest appearance by Osamu Dazai (though he shouldn't have too much screen time). Everyone has one-sided feelings for Jinpei Matsuda (though it doesn't seem like there are many romance plotlines; ship whoever you like, but Matsuda is the focus).

- Includes some timeline jumps (not too many) and multiple personalities (fake).

- Misunderstandings, being put through the wringer, beautiful but tragic characters, and a few little stabs to the heart (though it shouldn't be too tragic).

- Core question: If the world is one-dimensional, is the truth we believe in really what we think it is? The elevation of souls to higher dimensions never stops. This is an endless process of survival of the fittest.

- Warning: This is pure wish fulfillment. OOC is unavoidable. There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's hearts, and the drink names aren't researched, just made up (and I've used up most of them anyway). Updates are irregular. I only became a chef because there was no food to eat, so please be understanding.
