She didn't move, but the knocking continued. Burning with irritation, she snapped, "Who is it?!" A skinny little girl stood outside, dressed in filthy patched clothes, looking frightened and timid. "M-my name is Xiaocao..." Mu Li was at a loss for words. "Where are you from? What do you want?" "I-I'm from Huangsha Village at the foot of the mountain. We ran out of food at home, and my mother is about to starve to death... I came up the mountain to look for food, but got lost. I've been wandering for two days, and then I saw a house here..." Where was Huangsha Village? And people still starved to death these days? The girl looked at her cautiously. "Madam, might you have any food to spare? Could you lend me some to save my mother's life...?" Mu Li said, "...Wait here." Mu Li: I'll put off dying for now and see what's going on. *A heartwarming story about helping one another *Updates irregularly, with frequent edits A related upcoming novel: I Transmigrate Whenever I Act Wen Xue was ordinary in every way except for her slightly outstanding looks, so she boldly entered the entertainment industry.
