Mingde High School transfer student Lu Yan arrives with an ancient inkstone. Though cool and aloof, he treasures the old inkstone in its wooden box above all else. His deskmate, Shen Mo, accidentally discovers that the inkstone seals the soul of Lu Changfeng, who died three hundred years ago. Lu Changfeng turns out to have been Shen Mo's closest friend in a past life, while Lu Yan is the guardian of the Lu family inkstone. Three hundred years of waiting and ties from a past life draw the two boys closer at school, unaware that a descendant of the commander of the Imperial Guard is lurking among them. The soul in the inkstone and the love in the present, the threads of past and present lives intertwine anew in their youth. As they protect each other, they must also unravel a curse spanning time.
