The Little Palace Maid's Rise to Power

At twelve, Li Fei was bought and brought into the palace, where she became a low-ranking palace maid.

From a maid in the palace to the Wardrobe Bureau, from being chosen by a noblewoman to serve at her side to being punished for her mistress's anger and sent to the laundry workshop, her rise and fall depended entirely on the whim of those above her.

Everyone told her she was born lowly and should accept her fate.

But Li Fei refused to accept it.

Xiao Xingjian first took notice of Li Fei when a concubine used her to make an example of the other palace maids. Held down by the servants, she was repeatedly dunked beneath the lake's surface, a wretched sight.

He caught a glimpse of the ambition in her eyes and couldn't help but feel intrigued.

He suddenly found himself wondering:

Just how far could that ambition carry her?

Xiao Xingjian never imagined that a passing whim would keep his gaze fixed on her for decades to come.

PS: Palace-intrigue novel. The male lead is not a virgin.

PPS: Our girl is fiercely ambitious, so she definitely won't be a perfect, kind-hearted heroine. This is my usual palace-intrigue style. If that's not your thing, please don't read.

Theme: No one is born to accept their fate
