Unexpectedly, they stumble into a newly formed array and Mo Yao gets separated from her senior brothers. To break the array, she heads to its core, where a sword puppet lives. The puppet keeps trying to make a contract with her, insisting that she's the Demon Venerable!

After breaking through to the next cultivation level, Mo Yao decides to go on a solo training journey. Along the way, she meets a female cultivator, and the two become companions, promising to go on another trip together.
On their second journey, Mo Yao is accidentally bitten by a little snake. The next day, demonic markings appear on her face.
To get rid of them, Mo Yao has no choice but to enter the Demon Realm. She hasn't gone far before a man starts pestering her, repeatedly calling her "Master" and insisting she's the Demon Venerable.

The elders of the Immortal Alliance all test her to see whether she knew the previous Demon Venerable. Some are more direct and simply declare that she is the Demon Venerable reincarnated.
