[A sweet, unassuming slacker heroine x an intensely driven hero]
[Comedy | Bickering couple | Enemies-to-lovers | Aggressive pursuit | Love and hate]
Han Jiangyue, a low-ranking clerk at the Court of Agriculture, has three great ambitions in life:
Get promoted, get rich, and see her boss die.
Getting promoted and getting rich would take hard work, and she can't handle that. Only her boss dying would let her reap the benefits without lifting a finger.
So every day, Han Jiangyue comes up with ten thousand ways to make her superior meet an untimely end, including but not limited to:
Brew his tea too strong and keep him up all night;
Pray for his death while visiting the graves during the Qingming Festival;
Deliberately drag her feet on assignments and anger him to death...
But the new Minister of Agriculture seems to have an extraordinary... air about him?
Han Jiangyue remains unmoved. She just wants him dead.
After all, nobody in this world falls in love with their boss.
Even if he's powerful and handsome.
He's her boss, and that alone makes him guilty.
So when Han Jiangyue is kept behind after work by Gongsun Ye under the pretext of organizing documents, she has just one thought:
He won't even let me leave on time?
Why isn't he dead yet?!
As night deepens and the dew grows heavy, Gongsun Ye takes off his outer robe and drapes it over Han Jiangyue's shoulders.
She trembles all over, thinking:
You've got to be kidding. Now I have to wear your clothes home and wash them for you, too?
And, as usual, she asks herself:
Why isn't he dead yet?!
When Gongsun Ye breathes softly against her neck, his face brushing hers, she can take it no longer and cries out:
"I beg you, my lord, please stop harassing me!!!"
Seeing Gongsun Ye smile instead of getting angry, she asks herself again:
Why isn't he dead yet?!
In public: "Long live our mighty superior!"
In private: "Die, you corrupt official!"
1. An alternate history resembling the Wu Zhou period. Most officials are men, with a small number of women.
2. The heroine is a lazy office worker who hates the hero at first because of a misunderstanding.
3. Absurd comedy, with the bitter tears of working stiffs!
Theme: A lone minister may be cast aside, but he must never surrender his dignity!
