Xuanhuang is divided in three, and demons run rampant. The Moon Goddess is merciful, showering blessings upon all living things.
Ling Yuxi's life fell into an abyss the day someone took her place in the Night Patrol. All hope of obtaining the life-saving Blood Orchid Pill for her mother vanished.
Facing her mother, who lay on her sickbed with only a faint breath left, she wipes away her tears and makes a reckless decision. She enters Shadowblade, a dangerous place filled with all sorts of people, determined to earn a bounty and buy the Blood Orchid Pill.
With her family's hereditary night-watchman's supernatural arts and her own natural talent, she rises step by step through a series of deadly missions.
But she also discovers that the faith of the entire Xuanhuang Realm has turned its blades against someone as insignificant as her:
"Desecrate the Moon, and die!"
At her most desperate, a band of "Mad Moon Disciples," known as Moon Desecrators, comes to find her:
"Only the blazing sun. We fight our way toward life!"
