[Fork & Cake] My Archrival Is Actually a Cake

Ji Cimu suddenly awakened as a Fork at the age of eighteen. Having lost her sense of taste, she attacked her nemesis, Shan Nian, at the school's graduation party.

As the party's host, Shan Nian wore a white strapless mermaid gown. Her long hair, usually tied at the back of her head, had been pinned up, and the bangs that normally covered her forehead had been brushed aside, revealing her fully made-up face.

When Ji Cimu came to her senses, she saw Shan Nian covering her lips with the back of her hand, glaring at her with tear-filled, beautiful eyes.

Ji Cimu could only stare blankly at Shan Nian. The burning pain in her face had yet to fade, and she heard her own voice, low and pleading.

"Let me taste you again..."

Ji Cimu had discovered three months earlier that Shan Nian was a Cake. Shan Nian always wore black-framed glasses so large they covered half her face, and seemed dull and easy to bully. But she came first in their grade every month, while Ji Cimu was stuck in second place.

Her mother was always comparing her to Shan Nian.

Her teachers also told her to learn from Shan Nian's meticulousness.

She didn't like Shan Nian. She even hated her.

But after becoming a Fork... she could always smell the aroma of toasted bread coming from Shan Nian. It was fragrant and sweet, making her drool with hunger...

Even though she hated her, she seemed so delicious, so fragrant...

Hated her, so fragrant...

About the Fork and Cake setting

Humans can differentiate into two extremely rare special groups: Forks and Cakes. Their relationship is essentially that of "predator" and "food."

Fork/Predator

They are born without a sense of taste or suddenly lose it later in life, and can sense the unique "aroma" emitted by Cakes with extreme acuity.

They have an irresistible predatory urge toward Cakes and want to "eat" them.

Cake/Food

They are no different from ordinary humans, but to a Fork's senses, they give off an extremely enticing "aroma."

A Cake only finds out they are a Cake after being attacked by a Fork.

That's pretty much it. I've made up a ton of my own rules, and this is a sweet little story.
