Yan Su has lived a life of honor and privilege.
In terms of fame and status, he is the foremost figure of the righteous path, the supreme Sword Venerable. In terms of talent and cultivation, he can become a god with a single thought, unmatched beneath the heavens.
But he took a disciple.
On the day his disciple completed his cultivation, he betrayed his sect and the righteous path. Then he became the Demon Venerable and declared his love for Yan Su before all the people, threatening to take everyone’s lives unless Yan Su entered a spiritual bond with him.
Yan Su is too proud to accept his disciple’s demand, but he cannot watch the people die, either.
The calamity befalling all living things began with him. It is his fault.
The next day, everyone saw Yan Su kneeling in a white robe that trailed across the ground, his sword raised before the stone gate of the former Sword Venerable’s tomb.
When the Demon Venerable’s bridal palanquin arrived, the Sword Venerable, rumored to be dead, opened Heaven’s Gate to face his tribulation.
Ten thousand swords returned to their source, all for his one and only disciple, Yan Su.
