Not written in the style of today's popular web novels. Fans of old-school wuxia, feel free to dive in. (Don't believe me.)
The first thing I did after joining the site was write wuxia. The second thing was also write wuxia. All I do is write wuxia.
It doesn't matter if it's passé or unpopular. The essence of the wuxia spirit is swimming against the tide. What's the point of writing wuxia if you aren't rebellious?!
My Generation is exactly that kind of novel. No chasing trends, no riding the hype, and my writing skills are terrible. The pacing is out of control, and all that's left is a heart full of passion, burning through the entire jianghu.
My Generation just wants to find out: Without the jianghu ideal of "the greatest heroes serve their country and their people," is it still the jianghu? Without the world of martial arts where one "keeps company with flowers, leaves beauty behind, and treads the moonlight with a lingering fragrance," is it still a world of martial arts?
You get to define the new wuxia spirit.
Background:
The fourteen greatest swordsmen in the world all vanished during a sword contest, and the entire jianghu fell silent for ten years.
The heroes are gone, so let's make new ones. This is the ultimate showdown over how an era creates its heroes.
Everyone wants to be a hero. The only one who dreams day and night of becoming a "villain" is the protagonist.
About the leads:
She, Shui Qianfan, searches for her master, but after ten years, she's found no trace of him. He, Li Tianran, is tormented by nightmares he can't escape.
When they meet, a contest to forget the light of their lives begins in secret.
About the heroine:
Treasure every chapter she appears in. When she stops showing up, you'll be tearing your hair out.
About the hero:
When he's absent, just assume he's dead. When he appears, stop thinking about other men, because he's Li Tianran, China's King of Jealousy.
Romance routes:
The Yaoyao route: Patriarch Bodhi falls for the Monkey King and silently takes on the world for you.
(Power couple, not many tearjerking moments. (Don't believe me.) Enjoy!)
The Shuitian ship: A cold, sensitive lone-wolf female assassin x a sly, gentle, healing male fox.
(Two clever leads, all the way to the end. (Believe it or not.))
To sum up:
The style of this blurb is: not a single useful thing has been said; not a single thing said is true.
You're probably thinking: Then why call it a blurb?!
Answer: The blurb gives you the novel itself. That's just how it is!
Important:
This is not a typical strong-female-lead novel. In every pairing, the male and female leads complement and support each other. In the world of My Generation, the men are cocky, the women are even cockier, and cocky people belong with cocky people.
Warnings:
After the novel is complete, I'll heavily revise the first two volumes. Please be patient.
The heroine is absolutely not a new kind of strong female lead. She needs a man! Needs! Needs! Needs!
If you absolutely have to curse someone out, curse me, but please don't curse her. I can't bear it. Or you can curse the heroine of my next novel instead. She can take it, doesn't care, and is especially vicious. She's waiting for you in Myriad Phoenixes Sing.
Preorder: Myriad Phoenixes Sing
The sequel to I Am No Mere Weed, and the second book in the My Generation quartet. (The four My Generation books are related much like the Condor Trilogy. The characters are connected, and the protagonists may appear as supporting characters in other stories, but each story stands on its own.)
A strong-female-lead novel that isn't about wish fulfillment.
It's not wish fulfillment because whenever the heroine is unhappy, she draws her blade, and she's unhappy almost every day.
It's still a jianghu story. The heroine has three things in her favor: no fame, no helpers, and no cheat powers.
Question: Then what does she have?
Answer: A blade!
Her blade work is vicious, steady, and swift. When she draws her blade, she always takes a head.
Question: How can someone like that be unknown?
Answer: Because she only takes dirty jobs and works entirely underground.
Question: What is the hero like?
Answer: Everyone will have their own hero in mind.
In terms of the plot, three male characters have equally important roles. They're each the following type:
Man A: A scheming little wolf. He spends all day thinking about how to kill the heroine.
Man B: A power player focused on his career. He spends all day thinking about how to change the heroine.
Man C: A fall guy and human blood bag. He spends all day thinking about how to heal the heroine.
Question: You're not making C the hero?
Answer: Note that the heroine is the one who says, "I don't need healing. Either kill me or put up with me."
Excerpt:
He leaned against the railing and teased her. "Violence doesn't solve problems. Have you always been like this?"
She replied, "I was a little hot-tempered as a kid, and I couldn't let anything go. If anyone provoked me, I'd jump up and chop off the top of their head."
"And now?"
She smiled. "I'm much more composed now. I can kill people without even standing up."
One friendly reminder: If you've cursed out the heroine, you can't curse me out too.
Theme: Standing in a ditch, gazing at the stars
Is the author experiencing writer's block? Why hasn't it been updated?
