The Day I Ran Into My Ex-Boyfriend

When Qu Shulan unexpectedly ran into her ex-boyfriend at a restaurant, she was squatting in a corner, eating fast food without a shred of dignity.

Her hair was a mess, a coat was thrown over her pajamas, and dark circles under her eyes showed she'd been up for three nights straight.

Meanwhile, Li Chong was dressed in a suit, accompanied by a perfectly made-up woman, the very image of a successful professional.

He stopped in front of the ex-girlfriend he'd dumped out of the blue while they were still madly in love, and greeted her coolly: "Qu Shulan. Long time no see."

Qu Shulan suddenly looked up. Li Chong's silhouette was blurred by the glare of the lights.

She vaguely heard his companion ask curiously, "...Who is that?"

Li Chong answered with composed indifference: "A stranger. We met once."

There was obvious disdain in his tone.

And then that very night, they ended up in bed together. (Not.)

For twenty years, Li Chong's life had gone perfectly. He came from a wealthy family, his parents were devoted to each other, and he'd been the center of attention since childhood.

His one and only downfall came in his sophomore year of college, when he got a girlfriend. She was sweet and considerate.

And she was the one who pursued him first.

Li Chong was crazy about her.

Then she dumped him, clean and simple. She blocked him, ignored his calls, and vanished without a trace.

Li Chong never understood why, not until he ran into Qu Shulan again eight years later.

The first night, Li Chong became her bedmate.

On the hundredth night, he found a plane ticket on her phone for a solo flight to an unfamiliar city.

*

He resented Qu Shulan, and had what you might call an abandoned-kitten complex. In the end, he simply blamed her for not loving him enough.
