At just fifteen, Nakahara Chuuya is the world’s strongest Sentinel, possessing the finest combat ability in the world. Yet his mental world is exceptionally fragile, and every Guide who has tried to help him has suffered backlash to some degree. For all his strength, he has nowhere to use it, and can only stay under the protection of the [Tower], serving as one of its guards while training other Sentinels.
Until one day, Mori Ougai, the leader of the [Tower], assigns his “adopted son” to be Chuuya’s Guide: a bandage-wrapped weirdo. Chuuya thinks he’ll finally be able to go wild on the battlefield, only to discover that he’s actually been saddled with a demon...
Dazai, the bandage-wrapped weirdo, demon, bad cat, Osamu: (horrified and deeply unwilling) “You’re telling me I have to stabilize the mental world of a short little doggy slug?!”
Nakahara, little doggy slug, shorty, Chuuya: (laughs in fury) “Say that one more time, I dare you...”
The frail-looking, unheard-of third-rate Guide has terrifying mental power. Thanks to him, Chuuya gains a precious freedom. But the bandage-wrapped weirdo causes far too much trouble, and Chuuya wants nothing more than to beat up this “benefactor.”
The two boys bicker and roughhouse, but Chuuya discovers that the bandage-wrapped weirdo seems to be investigating something...
“For all these years, the [Tower] has continuously provided an unending supply of mental barriers... Tell me, what exactly is the [Tower]?”
The bandage-wrapped weirdo murmurs, his expression unreadable.
“And Chuuya, your past before the age of eight is completely blank. You appeared out of nowhere with enough power to turn the world upside down. What are you?”
