Fu Siqin transmigrates into a book as the Ninth Prince. To get home, he has to win over Xu Jilin, the gloomy, twisted tyrant of Tangzhong.
System warning: Xu Jilin is cold-hearted by nature, detached from worldly desires. Though his beauty rivals Guanyin's, he is an out-and-out wicked creature. Be very careful!
Fu Siqin sums it up: A Bodhisattva's face, an Asura's path, and a hungry ghost's heart?
System: He's not that nice!
At first, Fu Siqin doesn't understand the full weight of those words. He caters to Xu Jilin in every way, indulging his every whim and trying to redeem him.
But in the eyes of Xu Jilin, who sees through everything, Fu Siqin is nothing but a ridiculous fool, good for a laugh.
At the bitter end of winter, Xu Jilin wears a delicate, pitiful, harmless-looking facade and spends months playing at being sincerely devoted to him.
Until the day of the palace coup. Wind and snow sweep across the world, and corpses lie for miles beneath the bloodstained jade steps. Standing in the hall, Fu Siqin watches the frail 'Seventh Highness' emerge from the dim lamplight, shedding his disguise to reveal a chillingly beautiful and monstrous figure.
The young emperor looks weary and pale. With calm serenity, he murders his father and kin, heedless of all bonds and propriety.
As his sword falls and warm blood splashes across Fu Siqin's cheek, his murderous intent is unmistakable.
His once-indulgent, doting elder brother bathes in the crimson light and strolls closer, breathtakingly captivating. He lifts his lips in a faint smile, delighted and excited, like a monster ignorant of love and hate.
"Little Ninth, now that you've seen this... do you still like your big brother?"
Fu Siqin smiles and plays along, answering smoothly, "Of course. Big Brother can do no wrong."
The words have barely left his mouth when a cold flash appears. As the blade pierces his chest, Xu Jilin smiles with curved eyes, compassionate and merciful, pure and clear as a child's. He leans close and softly asks again,
"Little Ninth, now that you've seen this... do you still like your big brother?"
Before Fu Siqin can answer, Xu Jilin shakes his head again, smiling strangely. "You probably don't, do you? After all, all you've ever thought about is going back to that other place!"
"Why that look? Aren't you happy I'm sending you off?"

"Aaaah, this is so infuriating! That human parrot!"
"Xu Jilin's really trying to kill me. How does he know about the modern world?"
"Huh? How did I get back here!"
In the dim, oppressive light of a floor lamp, Fu Siqin curls up on the bed, fiddling with his shackles. A shadow falls over him.
'Xu Jilin' leans down with a smile and tilts his head. His gaze is dark and viscous. "Long time no see, big brother."
Big brother? Who's whose brother?
Fu Siqin is still puzzled when that light, airy voice speaks again, tinged with innocent grievance.
"I'm a year younger than you, so of course you're my big brother."
"Big Brother's gone quiet again. You don't want to see me that much? But I've been waiting for you for so long!"
Fu Siqin feels a chill run down his spine. That sounds so familiar!
The next moment, 'Xu Jilin' presses close. His skin is cold and pale as glazed porcelain, and a hazy gleam shimmers in his eyes. He looks exquisite and uncanny all at once.
"Do you hate me that much? I'm so sad. I could even cut out my heart to prove myself to you, Big Brother."
"But if you don't like me, it can't be your fault, Big Brother. Whatever you do... you can do no wrong."

Gloomy obsessive x funny guy, Xu Jilin x Fu Siqin, the top's memories accumulate
The top should be nicknamed Human Parrot. He has an amazing memory and likes repeating things. He can say the same thing over and over, like that line above: "Big Brother can do no wrong."
Here's one spoiler: In the top's setting, he exists across many parallel worlds. It's a bit like the bottom's sacrificial doll: every time the bottom dies, his death is transferred to the top in a parallel world. In other words, no matter how the top kills the bottom, the bottom will revive at the original point. They have to die together. I'm fair, so I won't make just one of them suffer.
There are two storylines, modern and historical. In the historical one, the top is an extreme egoist; in the modern one, he's an extreme family-first type. I really love the feeling of a sophisticated, clear-eyed self-serving person gradually becoming a lovesick fool.
The chapters alternate: odd-numbered chapters are historical, even-numbered chapters are modern. The plots connect, so you can read them in order or skip around.
Modern storyline: still undecided, but it's an age-gap romance with the younger one on top.
Historical storyline: imperial family, fake brothers after a book transmigration, with the older one on the bottom.
In the historical storyline, the top is a native who knows the modern world exists. He's an emperor and older than the bottom, who transmigrates into a book as a useless prince?
I'll figure out the modern storyline later, after I've worked it out. I haven't even written the outline yet. I simply want to post this as a future project. What draws me to this book is really the way it's written.

Theme: Without love, there are no worries; without desire, there is no fear.
