Fang Hao and Gu Wangshu went from school uniforms to wedding dresses. In everyone's eyes, they were destined for each other.
But in the second year of their marriage, Gu Wangshu asked for a divorce without warning. She left with nothing and disappeared completely, as if their eight years of love had been nothing but an illusion.
Three months later, Gu Wangshu died unexpectedly.
As black smoke rose from the crematorium, Fang Hao stood at the edge of a rooftop, bitterly recalling how she had cursed Gu Wangshu a thousand times, wishing her a terrible death. Yet the moment the woman truly turned to ash, Fang Hao leaped after her.
She didn't die. Instead, she fell into a cruel loop.
-
When she opened her eyes again, she was back on the university track.
Fang Hao laughed and cried. This was the twelfth time. No matter how she tried to avoid Gu Wangshu, cling to her, compromise, or fight back, Gu Wangshu always left in the end. And she always died.
Once again, Gu Wangshu ran past her. The wind billowed her white shirt, her ponytail streamed behind her, and when she glanced back, her smile was still radiant and lovely.
But this time, Fang Hao caught a fleeting glimpse of pain in her eyes. That grief didn't belong to the Gu Wangshu of this timeline.
So she was trapped in the loop too.
So all those cold rejections and silent withdrawals were a fate she had borne alone through countless cycles.
Fang Hao finally understood. The way to break the loop wasn't to avoid Gu Wangshu or tie her down. It was to uncover the truth Gu Wangshu would rather be hated for than reveal, a truth she had tried to bury with her death.
At their wedding, Fang Hao clasped Gu Wangshu's trembling hand. Her voice choked with tears, but remained resolute. "This time, whatever happens, we'll face it together! You're not allowed to let go of my hand again!"
Gu Wangshu's tears fell onto their joined fingertips. She squeezed Fang Hao's hand so tightly it felt as if their bones and blood were merging. "All right. This time, I won't let go!"
