Ning Lanyin transmigrates into the body of the legitimate daughter of the Prime Minister. Her parents dote on her, and she even gets an Empress for a legitimate older sister. What a wonderful life: wealthy, powerful, and smooth sailing.
But before she can enjoy even two days of it, her parents take her to a palace banquet, where she meets the Seventh Prince, Liu Xiangli, who has come to the capital as a hostage.
By a twist of fate, she is infected with his Heartbound Gu. The Gu is vicious, and without an antidote, she has little time left.
Ning Lanyin is horrified. "I'm doomed! You illegitimate brat, prepare to die!"
Alone and vulnerable in a foreign land, Liu Xiangli naturally has to pay with his life. Only, it's not his own life he offers. He intends to personally come and take her head.
First, that way no one else will learn that he can control Gu and silence witnesses.
Second, he can avenge the time she kicked him into the water.
In an empty alley, their blades meet.
Ning Lanyin: "Wait, no! Are you actually serious?!"
Hidden in the deepest part of the alley, Liu Xiangli smiles coldly. "Miss Ning, take your time on the road to the underworld."

She drags him into the Prime Minister's residence, locks him in the woodshed, and forces him to become her prisoner.
The only problem is... to protect himself, he takes another Heartbound Gu, making them share each other's sensations and lives.
