Some people call Hopper a monster. Others have diagnosed her with Asperger's. Hopper has never cared. In her eyes, she's just a psychic who loves reading romance novels.
One day, she woke up to discover that she had transmigrated into a third-rate romance novel she had read.
The setting is America in the 1990s.
The heroine is a sensitive, fragile student studying abroad on a government scholarship. In a foreign country, she meets the ordinary, impoverished white hero. Though neither seems to have the approval of mainstream society, they gradually fall in love through repeated encounters, marry, and eventually have a child together.
That is where the story ends.
But on her first day after arriving, she discovers that the fairy tale is already over. News of the heroine's disappearance is splashed across the front page of the local newspaper, accompanied by a picture of a smiling young woman in a sunflower field and her husband, whose face looks eerily strange.

A flame flares up, lighting a cigarette. She takes a deep drag and blows the smoke hard across the newspaper.
A thin curl of smoke rises, turning into a woman's corpse.
The original heroine.
That night, someone knocks on a wooden house in the northern part of the small town.
"Who are you looking for?" The man frowns.
The woman outside has black hair and dark eyes, just like his wife. She is tall, fit, and well-proportioned. She is wearing only a free T-shirt from university orientation and a pair of faded jeans, yet she is so beautiful that he can't look away.
Hopper smiles. "You."
"What do you want with me?"
"Your wife sent me."
At midnight, inside a street-side phone booth, the orange-red glow of a cigarette ember flickers on and off.
"Hello? Hey, sis! What's up, have you eaten? Oh, cut it out. All right, all right. Is this the Sunflower Children's Charity Fund? Yeah, that's right, I want to donate. What? How much? Hold on a sec."
Hopper holds the cigarette between her lips and pulls a wad of cash from her pocket, counting it.
"...Twelve... Twelve hundred. I'll donate twelve hundred dollars!"
