"Fake" princess x real villain
Lan Ting accidentally transmigrates into a novel as a princess among the supporting cast. She's also a "fake" princess who has been posing as one, and in the end, the villain who becomes a tyrant has her executed.
To survive, she saves Fu Yuan, the beautiful villain who's on the verge of death. He shows no gratitude whatsoever. He's beautiful, but just as ruthless at heart, so Lan Ting orders him tied to the bed and takes him for herself.
After a night of madness, Lan Ting holds Fu Yuan in her arms, traces his cheek with a fingertip, forces his lips apart, and slips a poison pill into his mouth.
"Try running, and I'll not only break both your legs, I'll make you wish you were dead."

The dynasty has lasted a hundred years, but the court is corrupt. Two factions hold power, and the people suffer miserably. Infighting and intrigue are everywhere.
False accusations? Lan Ting simply produces evidence of embezzlement.
Off to prison with you.
Oppressing the people? The people raise their banners and storm the treacherous minister's estate, smashing it to pieces.
You'll be left with nothing.
Pretending to be a princess? Lan Ting doesn't hesitate. She storms the palace in the middle of the night, wakes the emperor and empress dowager, and demands a blood test to prove their kinship.
Drop dead.
The road to survival is never smooth. If she wants to live, she has to seize power and hold on to it with both hands.
But she never imagined that the villain who commands terror across the land, braves wind and rain beyond her doors, and kills without hesitation would come home and hide in her arms, crying and complaining about his grievances...

Later, Fu Yuan is defeated in battle and disappears without a trace, leaving no remains behind. Grief-stricken, Lan Ting takes power and announces to the world that she will marry the "missing man."
In phoenix crown and bridal robes, she waits for the one who never returns.
At the same time, a regent appears out of nowhere in the divided court. Lan Ting puts aside her grief and suddenly realizes what's going on.
On the wedding day, the regent, whose face is exactly the same, deigns to offer his congratulations. Lan Ting wears a respectful expression, but nearly snaps her fan in her hand as she laughs to herself:
"Very well, very well. Your wings have grown strong enough that you think you can fly away, have you?"

Reader's Guide:
1. Gender-bender romance, both leads are each other's only partner, and they love each other.
2. Both leads have their own identities. No role reversal.
3. Alternate history, not a political intrigue story. The dynasties and official ranks are all mixed together, so there's no need to fact-check.
4. My writing could use improvement. If it's not to your taste, please stop reading. Thank you!
