Deep Hues, A Pale Winter

On race day, a racing fan tells Han Muzhou that she saw Luo Yuanqing in the stands yesterday.

Luo Yuanqing watches the race broadcast from her hotel. On the final lap, Han Muzhou makes a mistake and crashes into the wall, missing out on the Grand Prix victory. In the post-race interview, tears spill from his eyes.

That evening, someone knocks. Han Muzhou appears at the door, looking dejected and barely able to hide how miserable he is. "Why did you come to watch me race?"

Luo Yuanqing looks at him coolly. "There were other drivers on the track. What makes you think I went there to watch you?"

Han Muzhou mutters back, "Because I'm your ex-boyfriend."

She shuts the door and sends him away, refusing to let him in.

Through the door, he says bitterly, "Don't worry, I'm leaving now. I'll never see you again for the rest of my life."

Luo Yuanqing grips the doorknob tightly. Of course she knows he means it. In the four years since they broke up, he hasn't come back to the country once.

The hotel staff member who shared an elevator with Han Muzhou thinks he looks familiar.

They can't help taking another look at him.

Then they catch a glimpse of the tears at the corner of his eye.

The next day, someone knocks at the door.
