Tokyo real estate tycoon, rent-funded lie-flat enthusiast, former apocalypse-era powerhouse, and now a low-key veteran homebody, Yuzuki Aono has run into a little problem lately:
"Not 8,888!"
"Not 888!"
"Not even 88!"
"For just 0 yuan, you can take home the world's strongest, most comprehensive, top-of-the-line Achievement Unlocking System for free!"
"So, are you tempted?!"
Yuzuki Aono's heart was as hard as iron. "Not tempted."
The System's heart shattered. Its very first Host, fresh off the production line, was already this difficult to deal with!
But a brave little System never gives up!
"With me, you can..."
"Learn the world's hidden truths!"
"Win the admiring gazes of countless people!"
"Obtain mysterious prizes from beyond this world!"
"You..."
Yuzuki Aono: "Maybe you should go wash your brain first."
The System wept into the wind.
"If none of that appeals to you... Sob... Sob... Sweetie, unlocking each achievement can restore one property to its normal value. You really aren't interested?"
With murders happening all over town and the returns on most of his properties plummeting because they'd become murder houses, Yuzuki Aono raised an eyebrow. "Oh? That's a little interesting. Keep performing."
The System: ...I'm supposed to hand out rewards, not perform!
But life as a System was tough. It wiped away its little tears and humbly put on a show. "Of course, sweetie."
And so a landlord officially began his rent-stabilizing life:
He exposed a young director's secret identity just as the director was getting smug.
Conan: How did you know?!
On Valentine's Day, he hid a strand of light brown hair inside a certain vintage Porsche.
Gin: Hah, Sherry!
While a squinty-eyed man was conspiring with someone, he handed him an unpaid bill from his last rental.
Akai Shuichi, guiltily averting his eyes: ...Maybe you've got the wrong person.
And finally, right in front of the Public Security Bureau, he passionately praised the FBI for being more capable.
Yuzuki Aono: ...
A pair of honey-colored hands wrapped around his waist. A low, dangerous voice sounded in his ear: "What did you say?"
With a powerful survival instinct, Yuzuki Aono pulled his golden-haired lover into his arms. "No, Zero is the most capable."
A few notes:
1. The characters we can't get over will return in a different way. (I'm a simple person.)
2. The protagonist's ability is metal-based and won't break the balance of power.
3. Pairing: Zero. Main character is the pursuer.
Content warnings:
1. Lots of original headcanon, with out-of-character portrayals.
2. Mostly slice of life, because the author's not smart enough for anything else.
3. I only love Zero. I'm friendly toward the other characters, but Zero always comes first.
