A scoundrel's sincerity | The prodigal returns | Rebellious x sweet

Xie Wang was a bad man. Xia Zhir ran knew that better than anyone.
And yet she couldn't help falling hopelessly in love with him.
She was the real heiress of a wealthy family, adopted from the slums.
She stumbled into a banquet, wearing a long cotton-linen dress, standing awkwardly and helplessly in the middle of the crowd.
Her gaze landed on the man at the center of the banquet: noble and rebellious, his collar partly unbuttoned. He met her eyes, amusement filling his gaze.
Someone nearby understood at once. "Has Mr. Xie taken a liking to her?"
Xie Wang lazily looked away. "Yeah. She's funny."

Xia Zhir ran started dating him, but she didn't tell anyone.
After their passionate tryst, Xie Wang hooked a finger under her camisole strap and clicked his tongue in displeasure. "I gave you money. Why are you still wearing clothes like this?"
"You didn't get your money out of thin air, either. Don't waste it next time. This is perfectly fine to wear."
Xie Wang: "...?"
Who do you think you are, looking down on me like that?

He gave her the best of everything, then told her not to expect his affections. Their relationship was nothing more than a transaction where each got what they wanted.
Xia Zhir ran did as he said. When she heard he was going to be married off for a political alliance, she resolutely ended their relationship on her own.
The next day, she joined her research group in the mountains to film a documentary.
A torrential rainstorm struck, sealing off both routes up and down the mountain.
The man was soaked, a bruise on his face. A clap of thunder lit up his dark eyes, blazing with fury.
He stared hard at Xia Zhir ran, then slowly smiled.
"You'd better spend tonight thinking about how you're going to make it up to me."
Xia Zhir ran was so frightened that she came down with a high fever that night. As she drifted in and out of consciousness, a hand stroked her cheek.
"Little liar, you're more heartless than I am."
