Zhiyao is the goddess of Lishan. Gentle and distant, she is untouched by the mortal world.
Tens of thousands of years ago, when the divine realm was in turmoil, she carved out her divine bone to suppress evil and protect Lishan. Ever since, she has often fallen into slumber and can rarely return to the mortal world.
Then one day, a young man being hunted stumbled into her domain. He told her about the strange people and wonders of the outside world, and pestered her to take him as her disciple.
Zhiyao was so annoyed that she agreed, then drew the Heart-Severing Sword from the Nine Netherworlds and gave it to him for protection.
Forged from her divine bone, it was the only thing in the world capable of harming her.

A thousand years later, war broke out between the immortals and demons.
She entered the cultivation world and found someone she once knew.
The young man of the past had become a renowned Sword Venerable. When he looked at her, his eyes held nothing but unfamiliarity.
And the sword she had given him was now piercing her chest.
Reader's guide:
1. This is the backstory to a longer novel set in the neighboring series. It contains no spoilers for the main plot.
2. One-on-one, both physically and emotionally faithful. The ending is currently a bad ending, though I may write a continuation later.
