I'm Sakurai Chiaki, a psychology student at the University of Tokyo, Beika Town's top self-proclaimed fortune-teller, and a total miser. I pay my tuition and living expenses by running a fortune-telling shop.
My motto: If you're sincere, it'll work. If it doesn't... pay extra.
My clients are a questionable bunch: a curly-haired bomb disposal maniac, a smiling speed demon, a tough-as-nails detective, a cat-eyed public security officer, and a blond guy with dark skin.
A certain curly-haired man in sunglasses: "Tell my fortune. Does your future need a boyfriend named Matsuda Jinpei?"
Sakurai Chiaki slumped in her chair, listlessly replying, "...Need one badly. Especially a reliable meal ticket who can help me deal with the police and bad guys."
About "predictions": Before one operation, Chiaki said solemnly to Matsuda, "The tarot cards say you should avoid cylindrical objects today."
As it turned out, Matsuda not only successfully defused the bomb that day, but came back carrying a box of new cylindrical throw pillows for her.
Chiaki stared at the pillows and fell into deep thought. "...Did I actually predict your luck at IKEA?"
· About her "powers": Matsuda finally couldn't help asking, "How much truth is there in those 'fortunes' of yours?"
Chiaki lazily held up two fingers.
Matsuda: "Twenty percent?"
Chiaki: "No. It depends on the money and my mood. If the money's good or I'm in a good mood, I'll do a serious reading. If I'm in a bad mood, I'm just scamming people."
· About her "job": After they got together, someone asked Matsuda, "What does your girlfriend do?"
Without changing his expression, Matsuda put away his phone (the screen showed a threatening message from her: "If you don't come back soon, your Gundam models are going to have an accident") and calmly replied, "Uh... she's a psychological counselor."
Reader's note: The Police Academy Boys all survive, the female lead is purely on the red side, and this is set entirely in the Detective Conan universe.
