Molten was a black cat who spent every day eating his fill, sleeping, then eating again after waking up. Unfortunately, the apocalypse arrived, his home was destroyed, and his family disappeared. When he woke up, Molten was forced to roam the village outskirts.
Just as he pinched his nose and forced himself to bite down on the neck of yet another monster trying to attack him, a thing calling itself the System came looking for him.

Molten: Whad are you saying?

The cat tried to eat the screaming ball. It failed, but more or less figured out its main mission.

The apocalypse arrived, and monsters overran the cities. Humanity could only establish territories in the wilderness and struggle to survive.

Beneath it, trash cans were piled high with the gnawed bones of monsters.
It was still chewing on a monster's hand, crunching loudly.

Later, some people said an S-rank esper had appeared out of nowhere and would save humanity from catastrophe.
Others said that the S-rank esper was actually a monster, and intended to destroy the human world.
People argued endlessly, each insisting they were right. Then one day, the same voice rang out in everyone's minds.
"Hello, I'm the God of Food."
And right after that:
"If you have any monsters that need to be eaten, um, dealt with, please call the cat. The cat is hungry. Thank you."
