A Basket of Bitter Summer [Sasuke X Naruto]

A fantastical story with no logic and a replacement bride trope. (I actually finished writing this a long time ago, but never had time to post it.)

Summary: Pick a day to go mad, and die when it comes.

Dark red lanterns hung high from the beams, and red silk piled in the corner like a bay retreating with the tide. Today was the day the Uzumaki clan and the Uchiha clan joined in marriage.

Everyone knew the truth, and everyone found it absurd.

This was nothing more than a game of alliances and power. Come now, whether to submit or overthrow them, no one gets to call the shots.

Theme: Do not dwell on the past or ask about the future.
