That is, until a video of Qin Ce casually whistling in a bar trended online: "Shen Ji's got a face that's really something. Bet he's boring in bed, though." Shen Ji promptly opened an investigation against him for "suspected insult of a Federation public servant," with a chain of evidence so thorough it even included his whistling.
They had become enemies before they were even married. Everyone waited eagerly to watch the spectacle of their union, until an accident shattered their delicate, hostile balance.
The interstellar pirate leader whom Prosecutor Shen had personally caught through a scheme escaped from prison. Records of human experiments were also made public in full. It turned out that Shen Ji, the decisive chief prosecutor whom everyone admired, was nothing more than a defective Omega whose pheromones were almost impossible to detect.
The Empire was furious, public opinion erupted, and everyone waited for an explanation. At that very moment, Shen Ji lost control during his heat, curled up on the bed, drenched in sweat, the old scar on the back of his neck burning hot. Qin Ce could only watch as the ice-cold beauty who kept everyone at a distance and wouldn't even spare him the smallest smile turned into an adorable, bristling white fox.
"Get lost! Stay away from me..." The little fox gritted his teeth and trembled, his paws quivering too.
Qin Ce bit his finger and dropped to one knee, offering the blood, infused with Alpha pheromones, to Shen Ji's lips. "Shen Ji, even a defective Omega needs pheromones, right?"

After a hearing at the Federal Court, Shen Ji had just removed his prosecutor's badge when Qin Ce cornered him at the end of a hallway. The tall Alpha leaned against the wall, his tone teasing. "Prosecutor Shen, regarding the case where I insulted a Federation public servant, I'd like to appeal."
Shen Ji looked up at him, expressionless. "Take it up with the judge."
"Don't go." Qin Ce blocked his way again, his warm breath brushing Shen Ji's ear. "Take a look at this new evidence I found."
He waved the terminal in his hand. On screen, Shen Ji frowned at the evidence, but his fingertips unconsciously smoothed the corner of a clear photo of Qin Ce's face.
Shen Ji turned and walked away. "Nonsense."
Qin Ce's low laugh followed him, the final words drawn out with emphasis. "If Prosecutor Shen thinks the evidence is insufficient, why not come to my room tonight and discuss it? I can personally provide proof."
The next day, Qin Ce received a new complaint. The charge: harassing a Federation public servant.
