(The blurb has been revised, but the original plot described in it remains unchanged.)
Just two months after the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, when Rika's curse was lifted and she passed on to Buddhahood, Yuta Okkotsu, another modern prodigy of a jujutsu sorcerer after Satoru Gojo, had fought his way back from the depths of Grade 4 to Grade 1.
He was just one step away from becoming a Special Grade jujutsu sorcerer again, but had briefly hit a bottleneck.
Gojo-sensei said he was exceptionally talented and had an immense amount of cursed energy, and that it was only a matter of time before he regained Special Grade status.
So he hadn't worried much about it. He simply toiled away at the assignments the Headquarters dumped on him, flying all over the world to handle fieldwork.
One day, while on an overseas business trip, he received a call from the Gojo-sensei he respected.
"Yuta."
The mature man drew out his words, sounding to be in a pretty good mood.
"The final test for becoming Special Grade again..."
"Come back to Japan and meet someone."
The dark-circled boy tilted his head, holding his phone against his shoulder. With a swift, decisive motion, he pulled the katana from the cavity of the cursed spirit's remains, scattering cursed residue.
He wiped his face. The grim coldness that had come over him during the fight immediately turned into awkward hesitation.
"Huh... me?" he asked anxiously. "May I ask who I'm supposed to meet?"
"One of your upperclassmen." Gojo Satoru's voice was bright and distant, tinged with a hint of nostalgia.
"Come to think of it... she's been a deserter for quite some time."
Is that really something you can say so casually?
Come to think of it, the upperclassmen really are pretty rebellious.
Okkotsu Yuta voiced his confusion sincerely. "Why did that upperclassman leave? Was it because... of a relationship?"
Gojo Satoru paused noticeably.
"Yuta, you do seem to like making jokes like that." He replied airily, "Yes, that's right."
"...Huh?"
A brief silence.
Gojo-sensei didn't seem inclined to elaborate on the gossip, so Okkotsu cleared his throat weakly and brought the conversation back around.
"Do you want me to... bring her back?"
A low, rich laugh came through the receiver.
"No."
Okkotsu clearly heard Gojo-sensei let out a sigh that could mean any number of things.
The sorrow in it sounded strangely flippant, as though it was just his usual exaggerated performance.
"You need to spend some time getting along with her and learn as much as you can from her. And then..."
The man's voice turned cool, and Okkotsu's eyes widened.
"Do everything you can to kill her."

No logic. The heroine is the ultimate form of a Cursed Speech user. Her ability is ridiculously overpowered. She treats life like a game but is cold-blooded, and seems like a chaotic neutral type.
I really tried, but I just can't write a pure wish-fulfillment novel, QAQ. I can only make things start rough and then get better, with angst and catharsis alternating, some bitterness and sweetness, and love and hate all tangled up (looks away).
There are lots of romance plotlines, including a first love, an old flame, a new love, and a messy love triangle.
*In this setting, Suguru Geto escaped during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Theme: People should treat one another sincerely.
