Sunny, cheerful little ray of sunshine vs. brilliant, aloof flower on a high peak

Atheism? Materialism? When Shen Chuning woke up, she was completely dumbfounded. Everything she had once believed in was being overturned right before her eyes.

Because she had actually turned into a cat!

A Chinese tabby, curled up on someone else's abs with her paws tucked under her chest, no less.

And the man scratching her chin, his gaze so tender it could drown someone, calling her "Kitty" over and over...

Wasn't he her brilliant deskmate, the one who was usually so cold and paid her no attention?

Shen Chuning had a perfect guide to getting along with people, and it had worked for her everywhere since childhood. The only person it failed to win over was Xu Yu, an SSR-rank card.

As the famously aloof flower on a high peak at Nanhua High School, Xu Yu was cold and distant, firmly at the top of the class, and unmoved by anyone's attempts to get close. In her seventeen years, Shen Chuning had never tasted defeat until now.

And her reason for trying to win him over was plain and simple:

Xu Yu had the highest homework accuracy, the neatest handwriting, and was the easiest person to copy from.

Of course, the most basic factor was that they were deskmates, which made things convenient for Shen Chuning.

To keep “referencing” his homework over the long term, Shen Chuning drew up a detailed plan to win him over.

She offered him snacks, and he refused outright;

She asked him questions, and he told her to “look at page thirty-seven.”

Okay, so he was completely impervious to persuasion.

Until one day, Shen Chuning suddenly turned into a cat.

As far as Xu Yu was concerned,

People were always drawn to his polished exterior. Then they glimpsed the rot beneath and fled in a panic.

But Shen Chuning was different.

She was like the sun, overflowing with empathy and possessing a warmth that was almost stubborn. Her closeness wasn't so much about saving anyone as it was an inevitable expression of her own warm nature.

#Little Scene:

In college, after going through an unconventional “chasing-her-back” ordeal, Shen Chuning came to understand her mistakes and corrected them. She made sure to keep an appropriate distance from the boys who said good morning and good night to her every day, shared bits of their lives, and were acquaintances but not close friends.

And Xu Yu reflected on his own excessive possessiveness?

In their third year, the club held a welcome event for new members, and the club president organized a group dinner.

Shen Chuning checked in beforehand: [The club is having dinner tonight, so I won't be home for a meal. Oh... Shen Yang will be there too.]

Shen Yang was a younger student of Shen Chuning's, a first-year student and the most handsome guy in their department. He was sunny and carefree, the sort of person lots of people liked. He fell in love with Shen Chuning at first sight and immediately began pursuing her. After she turned him down gently, he apparently didn't give up, and even joined the club Shen Chuning belonged to.

Xu Yu: [Have fun, and come back early.]

Five minutes later

Xu Yu: [I love you, so I won't bind you in the name of love. You're free to do whatever you want.]

Two minutes later

Xu Yu: [Dinner parties are an entirely ordinary form of socializing. Even making friends is your personal freedom.]

He fell silent for a moment. It seemed none of that was enough to convince himself. He couldn't hold back after all.

[Big Boss has learned to do a backflip. Why not come home and see?]
