The No-Dating Rule for Team Members

Wen Li transferred from Special Investigations Team One to Team Two.

The reason she gave on her transfer request was personal reasons. The real reason was that she had fallen in love with her boss.

Her boss had an extraordinarily powerful ability. He was handsome and taciturn, a work machine without feelings who always turned the tide in a crisis. Thanks to him, Special Investigations Team One had maintained a record of zero casualties.

Wen Li liked that type, but her boss had expressly forbidden office romances within Special Investigations Team One.

She decided to put an end to her doomed, unrequited crush and let a newcomer heal her broken heart.

On the Federation's matchmaking System, Wen Li listed the nurturing, motherly traits that were the exact opposite of her boss:

Enjoys cooking, preferably with a chef's license. √

Can knit sweaters. √

Has two pets. √

Can tell bad jokes. √

Ding! The System has found a match and sent her an invitation to meet her date.

At the cafe, Wen Li found her former boss waiting for her, dressed in casual clothes with more precision than he wore his uniform.

Wen Li: Fill out the matchmaking preference survey again, right in front of me.

Her former boss opened his portable smart device and projected an image of three dishes and a soup. "I made these last night."

After a pause, he projected three more dishes. "These are for tonight. Don't believe me? Come and try them."
