[Ya He] Midsummer Night

Based on the plot of the film Alexander

Alexander x Hephaistion

If I could choose, I would ask for a little more time.

On a summer morning, just as the sunlight touched the water, we were still on the other side of the strait.

My white chiton and scarlet cloak billowed in the sea breeze. I reached out to him and ran into the dawn, leaving two trails of wet footprints on the fine golden sand. I tied a strand of seaweed in his brown hair.

Or further back, amid the beautiful scenery of our homeland, on a hillside dotted with wildflowers and clover, watching his brilliant blue eyes open after his midday nap.

Yes, I'd rather return to an earlier time, before anything had even begun.

Beneath the summer night sky over Mieza, I saw him lying on a hill covered in tall grass, gazing up at the sky screen.

“Hello, I'm Alexander.”

He sat up. I saw his eyes. They made me think of the sky behind the fierce sunlight here, and of the blue sea I had never seen.

He smiled, sincere and pure.

“Hello, I'm Hephaistion.”
