An orphan with no memories, Qian Li accidentally binds herself to a Navy promotion System. Her goal: to become the Navy's supreme commander.
Driven by the System, Qian Li tramples her colleagues, punches her superiors, chases pirates relentlessly, and works like a devoted corporate drone for decades.
Along the way to the top, she even manages to complete a side quest for romance.
Just as Qian Li is winning in both love and career, sitting happily in the Navy Admiral's chair while listening to her boyfriend give a work report, the System speaks up.
Congratulations, player! The Navy promotion quest is complete.
The pirate chapter is now beginning!
New goal! Start from scratch and work hard to become the strongest pirate on these seas!
Qian Li, who worked so hard just to make it to admiral, is furious.
Isn't this a little too drastic a career change?
And did anyone consider how I feel about having to start over from zero?
As a reward for perfectly completing the first round of quests, the System says it can give the orphan Qian Li a happy, lively pirate family.
That way, Qian Li can experience the warmth of a family and stay safe from being hacked to death by her former colleagues.
Half convinced, Qian Li trusts the System. When she opens her eyes again, she sees a remarkably familiar face.
Newgate, with his iconic crescent-moon mustache, bursts into hearty laughter and hugs the girl in his arms.
"An orphan abandoned at sea, huh? Looks like the sea has sent me a precious gift. From now on, I'm your old man, Gurarararararara!"
After a few seconds of shock, Qian Li closes her eyes in despair. What's going on? Why does this grinning idiot look so much like Whitebeard, whom she was chasing around just a while ago?
Restarting as her nemesis's daughter? System, is this the happy pirate family you promised me?
System notification: This month's quest is now available.
Player, do your best to open your mouth and call out a clear "Daddy" in your tender little voice to the person looking at you expectantly!
Quest reward: Edward Newgate's affection increases by 50 points.
Qian Li presses her lips shut.
I, Qian Li, would rather hold my breath until I die, drown in the sea, or jump off a pirate ship than call Whitebeard "Daddy."
Later...
Qian Li ate her words.
