Back when they were still in the Organization, Shiho and Gin often crossed paths while handing over work.
At first, Shiho thought he hardly ever smoked. It was only much later that she heard from others in the Organization that Gin not only smoked, but was a heavy smoker.
During the days she spent fleeing after leaving the Organization, her nerves were so tense that she stayed alert to everything around her. And so, one by one, details she thought she barely cared about came back to her:
The make of his car, the faint scent of cologne that always clung to him mixed with the smell of his cigarettes, and the hand holding a gasoline lighter that he liked to rest on the car window while driving.
In truth, she had only seen that lighter twice.
Once, they stood side by side. The other time, separated by a crowd and a cacophony of voices, it vanished amid the flames.
Like certain thoughts too obscure to put into words, it could only be buried beneath the ruins as time slowly passed.
So much time had passed. So much that even Shiho had forgotten:
They had once shared a kiss.
Commissioned work. Dual POV. BE. Original setting. And somehow, it even counts as pure romance.
The characters belong to the original author; any out-of-character writing is mine.
