In high school, Gu Zhaoyan once told Sheng Lan:

"We can take our time. It's only a matter of time before we're together."

"And you can't turn me down."

They'd agreed the world was vast, and that they'd see many more beautiful sights together.

Then an accident happened...

Sheng Lan said, "Whether it's a deceased loved one or a lover who's drifted away, everyone has their own path to follow... That's all."

"...I was only with you because... I thought it was exciting, and I didn't have to take responsibility."

"You think I'd believe that? Heh... exciting."

The last glimmer in his eyes went out completely as the call ended.

Gu Zhaoyan was abandoned after all.

Was it love, or obsession?

He didn't know.

Even Gu Zhaoyan couldn't make sense of it anymore.

"Since the day we parted, we've gone in opposite directions. You promised to spend every New Year with me, but you broke your promise again, you little liar."

We've both outgrown our youthful awkwardness and innocence, but when we met again and saw your smile...

It was as if she'd never changed, still the same as I remembered.

She beckoned with a finger, and I fell for her all over again...

This whole book came from a burst of youthful passion, with an old draft that I've been frantically patching up.
