The Scholar and the Actor

This is a short story I wrote in May. I'll revise it and put it out next month.

They meet by chance in the ancient entertainment world.

That night, she goes out and runs into Jiang Zhuru.

"Miss Yuzhu, it's late. If you go back alone, you might run into snakes or insects on the way. I wouldn't feel at ease."

In the moonlight, his refined face wears a warm smile.

Yuzhu suddenly laughs. For all the books I've read, I'm still so old-fashioned. You're worried I'll run into snakes or insects, but do you think I feel at ease about you? In my eyes, you're no better than a snake or a scorpion.

Chu Ci is twenty-eight and about to earn her doctorate in traditional Chinese medicine. All her life, she has followed the rules and studied tirelessly. Her only hobby is playing the guzheng. Chu Ci is learned and devoted to her studies. When it comes to using Chinese medicine, she does everything herself, even testing medicines on her own body. One day, while testing asarum, a colleague forgets to tell her it was collected in the mountains. The medicine is too potent, and she is poisoned. Her life hangs by a thread, and her will to survive is weak.

An brings her to her laboratory and lets her drift through small worlds while she waits to wake up.

(1) The Fiancee

After passing the county-level civil service exam, Lu Xichi plans to marry first and then enroll at the Imperial Academy.

Jiang Shi can't stand her son's fiancee, an orphan with no connections, and resolves to break off the engagement.

Confused by the differences between ancient and modern times, Chu Ci finally decides to follow her heart and join forces with Jiang Shi's stepson to leave the Lu residence.

(2) The Traveling Merchant's Wife (Manuscript complete)

Her husband has been away for over three years. Behind the scenes, someone is arranging to marry their eleven-year-old daughter off to a wastrel.

(3) The Young Lady Who Won't Take Her Medicine

A wealthy young woman sees the true ugliness of her husband's family after marriage.
