At the company annual gala, Qin Zheng learns that her boss, Xie Jing'an, is about to enter an arranged marriage. Her three-year unrequited love comes to an end. Distraught, she drinks herself into a stupor. The next morning, she wakes up hungover and discovers she's in Xie Jing'an's bed.
They spend one reckless night together.
Xie Jing'an is impeccably dressed. Beneath his shirt, buttoned wrong, are a series of vicious scratches she left the night before. Seated on an expensive sofa, he glances at her coolly. "I'll take responsibility for you. Let's get married."
Even in the middle of a breakdown, Qin Zheng manages to think clearly. "Don't you already have someone you're supposed to marry?"
The usually untouchable Xie Jing'an replies coldly, "It's off."
"..."
After giving it serious thought, Qin Zheng still turns him down. "I don't want you to take responsibility for me. I just want love."
_
Her peaceful life is turned upside down. Xie Jing'an is still the same elegant and distinguished Mr. Xie, but Qin Zheng can no longer calmly watch him getting entangled with his former arranged-marriage partner. So she submits her resignation and plans to return to her hometown to heal her broken heart. Before she leaves, however, she gets a call from Xie Jing'an's assistant.
"Miss Qin, Mr. Xie was in a car accident, but now... it seems he only remembers you."
Qin Zheng assumes he's exaggerating.
When she arrives at the hospital, she sees Xie Jing'an, usually as cold as ice, with a bandage wrapped around his head and dressed in blue-striped hospital pajamas. He no longer seems so distant. He looks disheveled and dispirited, his head drooping like a puppy feeling sorry for himself.
But when he sees her, his eyes turn red. "Wifey, where did you go? I thought you'd left me."
Qin Zheng: "..."
Wait, no. Can something this ridiculous really keep happening to her, again and again?
