--How does a police officer so righteous it's almost evil teach the law to supernatural beings in a rule-based horror world?

Song Zhixing, former captain of Liucheng's criminal investigation squad, is now the rookie captain who parachuted into the top-ranked team in the Rule Horror World.

From the start, he was forced into a contract with a gloomy, sharp-tongued pretty supernatural being who spent all day wanting to dig out his heart.

Mo Mingfei had a terrible temper and was picky about everything. He threatened Song Zhixing with absolute confidence:

"Three months. If I don't get my 'spirit core' back, I'll kill you and dig your heart out while you're alive."

Song Zhixing grabbed Mo Mingfei's loose hair, nodding as he tied it into a ponytail. "Sure, sure. Tie your hair up. With it hanging loose, you look like a ghost. What kind of look is that?"

The actual ghost, Mo Mingfei: ...

Later, as the three-month deadline approached, Mo Mingfei pressed his sharp nails against Song Zhixing's left chest, but couldn't bring himself to stab:

"...Hey, why is it beating so fast? It's so noisy."

Song Zhixing, former captain of Liucheng's criminal investigation squad. He believes in Marxism-Leninism and trusts science.

That is, until he was suspended for investigating his younger sister's disappearance, got bitten by a "delinquent" he found picking moldy buns out of a trash can, and woke up in a three-hundred-meter free fall.

Not only did he survive, he ended up in a strange place called the [City of Time].

Because of some stupid System malfunction, this complete newbie was directly made captain of WAF, the top-ranked player team.

Even more absurdly, the boy who bit him turned out to be a "newly created experimental supernatural being."

Through a twist of fate, they were forced into a Mutual Aid Agreement Between Humans and Supernatural Beings, which would kill them both if they failed to fulfill it.

It was a blatant one-sided contract. If Song Zhixing couldn't get the supernatural being's "heart" back, he would have to pay with his own.

In short, one life for another.

Song Zhixing frowned at the contract. "Doesn't the City of Time have a Contract Law? This is clearly an invalid standard-form contract."

His WAF teammates were speechless. "Captain, stop lecturing everyone on the law. Survival of the fittest, kill or be killed. That's the only 'fairness' in the Rule Horror World."

Song Zhixing was exasperated. "You young people have such a weak sense of the law. All you do is fight and kill. Out in society, you'd be a threat to public safety."

The players: Who's he? Why's he butting into everything?

WAF members: A cop.

The players: !!!

The players: Holy crap, the System is incredible. It dragged a cop into this messed-up game!

The hidden administrator behind the [City of Time] probably never imagined what it would mean to bring in a police officer.

It meant that dungeons meant for supernatural slaughter would become "public legal education videos"!

From then on, the dungeons' bloodcurdling atmosphere changed completely.

A supernatural being lunged at Song Zhixing with a hideous grin. As he twisted its arm, he sternly lectured it: "Under Article 232 of the Criminal Law, intentional homicide is punishable by death, life imprisonment, or fixed-term imprisonment of ten years or more. Turn yourself in now, and your confession will be taken into account."

The supernatural being: "...???"

Later, the supernatural beings in the dungeons all started secretly cramming the Criminal Law, afraid they might draw this living ancestor and get the answers wrong, only to be "educated" in the friendliest way possible.

Not only did the dungeon clear rate soar, but the [City of Time] became incredibly safe, too.

Someone asked Song Zhixing what he would do when the laws governing the City of Time could not be changed.

Song Zhixing smiled at the central time hub. "Then I'll become the administrator and change them for you."

Mo Mingfei had been a string of data for as long as he could remember. His only obsession was escaping to the "surface world" and living an ordinary life.

Then, on the day the four time administrators changed over and the defenses were weak, he escaped to the surface world he had dreamed of.

But he was happy for less than an hour before the rain soaked him to the skin and hunger left him with his stomach against his back.

A dignified supernatural being who didn't eat people, but instead rummaged through trash cans for moldy buns in the rain. Mo Mingfei was so frustrated he could have exploded.

Who knew that even after all that, a cop would chase him as a criminal suspect?

He was so angry that he bit the man. Then, damn it, he was forcibly recalled to the [City of Time], disciplined, and stripped of his spirit core.

Mo Mingfei was furious. When he learned that the cop had entered the Rule Horror World, he deliberately tampered with the standard clauses of their human-supernatural contract.

So what if he couldn't get his spirit core back? He could kill the man and dig out his heart to replace it.

It was only three months. He could wait a few more days.

Much later, he rested his hand against the man's broad, sun-browned chest and felt the strong heartbeat. In the hollow of his own chest, something seemed to take root and stir.

"I broke our agreement. Aren't you going to do anything?" The man grinned at him.

Mo Mingfei bared his teeth, angrily pulled his hand back, and felt his eyes turn red.

"Loving you is the worst luck! Let's die together!"

Reading Notes:

1. The shou has emotional difficulties early on and slowly learns how to love under the gong's guidance.

2. WAF team: We are friends, we are fucked.

3. The gong is naturally freakishly strong, with maximum combat power. When dealing with supernatural beings, it's basically: if lecturing doesn't work, I can throw a punch or two.
