Midnight Flight

The new novel Rock and Black and White is now available!

Genius chess player x rock vocalist

When cool rationality meets the blazing stage.

Lonely, drifting midnight radio host x warm, mysterious record store owner

Whispers on the midnight radio intertwine with the echoes of vinyl.

A tender, healing romance, with both hearts moving toward each other.

A shop that had never been there before appeared on the street corner.

A blue sign with white lettering hung quietly over the door. The words were gentle, like a whispered invitation: Night Flight.

A record store. You didn't see many of those these days.

Yun Xiao hesitated, then pushed open the door.

The shop wasn't large, and there were only a few customers inside.

Records filled the walls and the display racks in the middle. New and old vinyl and CDs sat side by side, covering all kinds of musical styles, including a number of rare secondhand records.

At the very back was a counter. Two record players sat on its wooden surface, beside a handwritten chalkboard that read:

Come on in, give a record a listen, choose a drink and a song

A man behind the counter had his back to her, making pour-over coffee.

He wore a simple white T-shirt, standing straight, his movements focused. A dark brown leather cord bracelet, wrapped around his left wrist several times, lent him a quiet restraint that matched the atmosphere of the whole shop.

Yun Xiao pulled out a record and walked over to the counter.

"Hello, I'd like this one."

Yan Gengyu looked up and saw the record in her hand.

The mood in the room suddenly shifted.

It was Marilyn Manson. The cold, distorted metal rock seemed ready to burst through the cover, a striking contrast to her delicate, distant air.

He had thought she would pick jazz or light folk. He hadn't expected such a sharp, extreme choice.

"An unusual choice," he said, his tone gentle and reserved.

At the time, neither of them knew their story had already begun with music.

Beneath the hazy moonlight, a cool breeze blew as Yun Xiao stopped walking.

"Let me tell you a secret," she said softly.

"I came to like rock because of you."

Yan Gengyu met her gaze, unable to hide the excitement in his eyes.

"If you're willing, let's have a relationship where we don't care about the outcome, only the journey. What do you say?" Her voice drifted toward him on the breeze.

Where would the next song take them?

Meet the leads:

Yun Xiao: A midnight radio host afraid of settling down, who chooses to wander alone.

Yan Gengyu: A record store owner who gave up success to find himself again.
