Pilgrim photographer gong × Plateau conservation officer shou, a pure land on earth
With his camera on his back, Zeng Yunshu reached the destination of his journey.
The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in southwestern China, the roof of the world, the highest plateau on Earth.
And the lean, agile Tibetan man standing before him, like a Tibetan antelope.
Baima Yundan.
When Zeng Yunshu thought of the plateau, he remembered a blue sky and gray earth.
When he thought of Baima Yundan, he remembered him staying up all night pursuing poachers, and getting covered in blood while rescuing injured animals.
He remembered the scent of dust mixed with grass on him, and the warm smell of little animals on the sheepskin rug in his room.
It seemed he always knew where to find each kind of animal. He knew what was safe to eat and what was poisonous.
Because those who grow up closest to heaven can hear the messages the earth sends.
Lying side by side beneath the night sky at the top of the world, Zeng Yunshu's heart raced. He couldn't tell whether it was love or the thin air.
Shh, listen. Clouds will settle over the wilderness, and love will point the way home.
