Those Years with My Childhood Friend, 27

Fourteen years after reincarnating in another world, I gradually began to recover some memories from before my reincarnation.

I finally remembered that in my original world, I had a hardcore otaku friend whose favorite character was called "27". What a strange name.

Anyway, my friend and her favorite character were long gone. Now, after fourteen years in this new life, I'm an unfortunate good-for-nothing middle schooler.

Grades: Average.

Athletics: Terrible.

Housekeeping: A disaster.

Parents: Divorced.

Money: Enough to get by.

I have a childhood friend who's just as much of a good-for-nothing as I am, if not worse. Every day on our way home from school, dogs chase us, delinquents extort us, and we fall flat on our faces as we run away, bruised and battered. Then we go home side by side and treat each other's wounds.

I thought our ordinary, unlucky days would go on like this forever. Then one day, my childhood friend told me he was descended from the head of the Italian mafia and was about to return home to inherit the position.

You're joking, right?

You have to be joking, right?

Don't betray our good-for-nothing childhood friendship!!
