They say that when Xanxus was born, the heavens showed strange signs. Clouds glowed red across the sky, flames soared into the heavens, and a lion-tiger beast descended from above, its roar shaking the earth.
They say that the birth of his younger brother, Tsuna, was even more astonishing. An enemy attacked at a critical moment, and countless lotus vines wrapped around and lifted little Tsuna, warding off every blow.
That the two Hyuga Clan brothers would inevitably fight a fierce battle was the only thing certain amid all the mysteries.
Everyone waited eagerly. Supporters on both sides stood ready for a fight. Sarutobi Hyuga couldn't bear the thought, but Tsuna was in his room, brushing the fur of Bester, who was lounging lazily across his lap.
"Next time, can you stop beating up your supporters? And try being a little nicer to Grandpa Third, you jerk!"
Xanxus snorted and said nothing.
Those people had wanted to brand the boy with the Caged Bird Seal, so of course he had beaten them up.
There were many things he had never said aloud. For instance, he had long since decided in his heart that the boy would be the one to command him.
He should be the most dazzling light, the freest bird, with all glory bowing before him.
And Xanxus would be the most devout believer, one who had never once prayed.
