Yongping Year 20
An imperial decree binds Xie Yanqing to the unloved Sixth Prince. With no choice, she can only hope her husband will be easy to get along with.
As she wished, though the two have no feelings for each other, Fu Jingzhao treats her with gentleness and patience. After their wedding, they live together in harmony, and she becomes pregnant six months later. Their simple, happy life slowly wins her heart, and she believes her husband feels the same.
Yongping Year 22: The emperor dies, and the Sixth Prince ascends the throne in front of the mourning hall. In the first year of Qianxi, he makes his principal wife, Xie Yanqing, empress.
Qianxi Year 2, June: The eldest prince dies. As Xie Yanqing holds her child, whose life is slowly fading, and weeps in anguish, she cannot even summon a single imperial physician. Meanwhile, Fu Jingzhao is by the side of her younger sister, Xie Lening, who has just been brought into the palace, ordering the physicians on duty to do everything they can to save the pregnant Xie Lening.
Qianxi Year 3, May: Consort Xie Lening dies. The empress asks to leave the palace and enter seclusion, but her request is denied.
Qianxi Year 7, March: The empress becomes pregnant, and the emperor is overjoyed. In November, she gives birth prematurely to the second prince and dies. The emperor is devastated, and grants her the posthumous title Empress Chेनyi.
As her consciousness fades, Xie Yanqing thinks: In this life, she failed to keep her parents, sisters, children, or husband. It was all so meaningless. She won't come back in her next life.
But when she opens her eyes, she's returned to Yongping Year 19. The emperor hasn't granted the marriage decree yet, and she hasn't married Fu Jingzhao! Just as she thinks there's still time to change everything, the marriage decree arrives at the Xie residence early! She doesn't know that the man she's doing everything she can to avoid has nearly given his life to ask for it.
The hero's perspective:
Fu Jingzhao's mother was out of favor, and the emperor treated him with the same disdain. Yet this background allowed him to lie low in the shadows and emerge victorious in the end. Before taking the throne, everything he showed the world was false. His lack of ambition was false, his indifference to fame and fortune was false, and his refusal to compete or fight was false. Only his feelings for the princess consort unexpectedly bestowed on him, a woman he had never met before their marriage, were real.
But she refused to believe even that one genuine feeling.
He knows that one moment of poor judgment indirectly caused the death of their only child and pushed her to the brink of death. After she died, he used his own heart's blood to bring them both back, hoping to make up for the pain he'd caused her. But when he opened his eyes, he found her married to someone else, with a son and a daughter.
He couldn't accept it, so he used the same trick to bring them both back once again. But this time, she had memories of her past life too! Were they fated never to get another chance?
No! He refused to believe it!
At a banquet:
Watching the dignified, graceful empress sitting beside him, yet unable to stop glancing at the young general across the hall, the usually composed emperor's expression darkened. He tightened his arm around her waist beneath the table and leaned close to whisper in her ear in front of everyone. His words, however, sent a chill through the room:
"If you look at him one more time, Empress, I won't be able to stop myself from tearing him limb from limb!"
That night, he clutched Xie Yanqing's waist, pleading and almost threatening as he begged her over and over: "Qing'er, could you please stop thinking about anyone else? You're mine... You can only be mine..."
Gentle, steadfast noblewoman x restrained, obsessive emperor
A groveling-for-forgiveness romance. Will he win her back? Stay tuned!
Reader's Guide:
1. The story involves three lifetimes. In all three, both the hero and the second male lead are sexually inexperienced! My heroes have to be pure, even emperors!
2. In the first lifetime, both leads are sexually inexperienced. The hero never crosses any physical or emotional boundaries with the heroine's younger sister. He has only ever loved the heroine, physically and emotionally. The events described in the blurb have more to them than meets the eye.
3. In the second lifetime, the heroine isn't sexually inexperienced, but the hero is. She marries someone else and has a son and daughter. The heroine hasn't been reborn, but the hero has. This lifetime ends in a bad ending.
4. In the third lifetime, both leads are sexually inexperienced, and both are reborn. The hero grovels to win his wife back.
5. The hero won't be replaced. The main story begins in the third lifetime, when both leads are reborn.
