Thousand-Mountain Gu Love tells the story of a heroine who sets out on an adventure to find a Miao village and fulfill her mother's last wish. Among the main characters are the sunny, cheerful male lead and a gentle, considerate friend who is destined to be cannon fodder.
Jiang Yu is neither gentle nor considerate, yet somehow he transmigrates into a book as that cannon-fodder friend.
The moment he opens his eyes, he is faced with three pieces of bad news:
First: He has none of the original host's memories.
Second: He has forgotten almost everything about the novel.
Third: A bug-infested survival-in-the-wilderness nightmare is about to begin.
Jiang Yu: "..." This is a doomed start from the start.
With no other choice, Jiang Yu clings to the main characters for dear life and flees in a panic all the way...
Until he realizes that, somehow, he can never escape the plot's control. He starts to panic... because in the few scraps of the original story he still remembers, the cannon fodder doesn't meet a happy end.
Jiang Yu doesn't want to die. Luckily, he discovers a way to defy his fate: as long as he sticks close to Wen Xuesheng, a Miaojiang priest, he can temporarily escape the novel's plot and live a peaceful retirement.
So he decides to ask Wen Xuesheng out for a stroll every single day.
Wen Xuesheng has a sweet little problem.
He's fallen for a man, and the man seems to like him too. He asks Wen Xuesheng out every day, but no matter how much Wen Xuesheng hints, the man always seems to play dumb.
Then one day, with thousands of butterflies as witnesses, Wen Xuesheng confesses. The man turns him down, then plans to leave the village with someone else the very next day.
Wen Xuesheng: "..."
He sits alone all night. As dawn breaks, he cuts open his palm and uses his blood to awaken the gu he buried deep underground...
