Bian Jiaoyue returned to China with her orchestra for a performance.

After rehearsal, a reporter interviewed her.

Along with questions about the upcoming performance, the reporter brought up the TV series Bian Jiaoyue had starred in as a child. It was still drawing huge audiences today.

The reporter asked about something fans were eager to know: "You and Zhong Tingyue had so many moments of character growth together on screen. Everyone is curious whether the two of you have stayed in touch as adults."

In the show, the characters played by Bian Jiaoyue and Zhong Tingyue grew up and ended up happily together.

Off screen, the two actors who played them as adults had just held a grand wedding this year.

So the reporter's question was only natural.

Bian Jiaoyue said with a beaming smile, "Tingyue and I are still very good friends in private. We even made plans to visit Teacher Zhan on set this week."

Late at night, the light in the room stayed on. Zhong Tingyue read the report on his phone and let out a derisive laugh.

What did she mean, very good friends? Very good friends who had only added each other on WeChat a couple of days ago?

In the winter of 2014, Bian Jiaoyue first met Zhong Tingyue in a brick-and-tile house amid a vast snowy landscape, when the clapperboard snapped.

From then on, with every call of "Cut!", her adolescence became an endless curiosity about Zhong Tingyue.

In the fall of 2026, on the set of Director Zhan's new drama, Zhong Tingyue shouted at Bian Jiaoyue: "You left me here all alone. Did you even consider how I felt?"

The director glanced at the script. Was that line even in there?

Tips: The timeline will probably be revised when I write it later.
